Friday evening was rainy, and we all got ready and went to New Hampshire to find a good Mexican place to eat. We ended up at a place called Revolution Cantina. It was pretty good. It was decorated with skulls and lots of other art- very contemporary modern with a Latin-Mexican flair.
Saturday we slept in and then tried to find a little tag sale in Londonderry and also the West River Farmers' Market....but we were too late! So, we went to North Springfield and practiced baseball with the kids. Later, we rode into to Springfield and had lunch with the kids at 371. We had a party pizza which I might add is the size of a table top!!!! Afterwards, I stopped by the local hardware store and bought some pots and plants to place on the porch. Hillary helped me pick all the flowers and plant them. It was sunny some of the day with frequent showers...on and off.
We played in the yard ...baseball, hiking trails, and later came in for supper and a Madea movie. Ha.
I love her humor!!!!
Sunday -
I experienced a quote a month ago by Horace Mann:
Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity.
I loved the quote and it was located in front of a church called Unitarian Universalist. I had to try a church that believed in this humanity. So, this morning that is what we did. The atmosphere reminded a lot of Bon Aqua Methodist Church- also many of the people. (Kind, gentle, humanitarians)
The sermon and most of the work in the church this morning was carried out by women. The songs were a mixture of nature songs, old hymns (one my uncle Junior always loved), and some folk music. It was a nice reading of a memoir of what Memorial Day meant, art of the Vietnam Wall, sharing of joys and concerns, as well as the donation of food during the service to a local shelter. I really liked the church. My children were the only ones there, so they were less impressed with what it had to offer....but it was right up my alley. At closing, there was a poem read - a metaphor how life is much like a garden in spring....comes and goes. A lady in the congregation was even from Fort Campbell KY - what a small world.

pretty cool affirmation for humankind..... |
We were kindly invited to Joe's parents, Gary's Athletic Director at Springfield, for a cookout. Hillary especially loved swimming with Ava, Joe and Morgan's little girl. They also have a little boy, Giles, which I think loves cars as much as Cooper did at his age! We met a lot of very nice people at the cookout, even a family similar to ours, but from Texas. Joe's mom had an ingredient on her counter I had not seen since I was in high school trying to search for it with Stephanie Shelton- Adobe flavoring! It was a nice time had by all! Hillary fell in the pool on the way out and Cooper and Brock managed to fall onto a wooden fence while there and break it in half. Yes, this is why we probably need to stay at our house - and keep them from mixing too much!

Hillary and Ava- they enjoyed playing so much today! |
Sunday afternoon we went to the Ludlow Ballparks - Home of the Presidents. The girls softball team is called the Lady Presidents. The boys pitched and hit and Hillary and I walked around. It was a very pretty park and enjoyable afternoon. I think the weather is just perfect here today!
Tomorrow we will go to our first Memorial Day Parade on the town green of Ludlow! Pictures to follow! All the little towns here have Memorial Day parades...... :)
